Ever wonder how people manage to stay looking so refreshed and so revived during the summer? At a time when the heat and humidity are so unbearable that you feel like no matter what you do, you still feel out of it? Well, the answer is at your fingertips. Here are 7 tips to look fabulous, beat the heat, and stay flawless this summer:
1. Relax, Relate, Release. It’s time to find that inner peace. The things that mean the most to you are the same things that make you happy. So start to make a list of things that make you happy and start enjoying yourself. Why let the past control you? The less stressed you are, the better you will be mentally, spiritually, physically and socially, which can lead to you being a healthier being.
2. Stay Hydrated. H2O is more than just a thirst quencher, it’s a must have during the summer. It keeps you well-hydrated. So while the temperatures are rising, water gives you the great benefit of staying calm, cool and collected. Plus, water promotes healthier skin, so the more water you drink, the more flawless your skin will be.
3. Avoid Dryness. There's nothing worse than to see someone all dressed up from head to toe, but when you look closer at their skin, it’s extremely ashy and dry. Everyone’s skin is naturally drier during the winter, but now that the weather has changed, it's time to get beach-ready and rid yourself of your dry, dull skin by exfoliating. Once that's complete, make sure to keep your skin well-protected with sunscreen and moisturizer.
4. Put Your Best Foot Forward. Don’t let the heat and humidity get you down. Put some pep in your step and get physical! What better way to start your summer off than to create a fitness routine that works best for you? Keep in mind, just because you don’t see immediate results, it doesn’t mean that it’s not working. It just means that you may need to change your routine by adjusting your diet or adding some strength training to your cardio. The best way to stay physically fit is to be consistent. Note: Losing weight is more of a mental challenge. If you begin to push past those negative thoughts that got you to where you are today - thoughts like “It’s too hard,” “I’ll try another day,” or “I don’t care” - you’ll see results.
5. Stop Being Sleep Deprived. If you are a hardworking individual, you owe it to yourself to get the proper amount of sleep. The same amount of time you put into work should be the same amount of time you need to rest. Imagine working a ten hour job, but only giving yourself 5 hours of sleep. How do you think your body will respond?
6. Less is Better. Why weigh down your skin with too much makeup? When it’s hot outside, the last thing you want to do is to clog your pores with excessive makeup, so the less makeup, the better. Invest in a light foundation that contains SPF. Along with the light makeup, make sure that all products are waterproof. Remember, during the summertime, we tend to sweat a lot, so you wouldn’t want to waste your time by applying makeup that's only going to wash right off. If possible, how about not using makeup at all? Being natural is not a bad thing.
7. Wear and Dare. Just because the weather is warmer doesn’t mean you should lose your sense of style. Being chic and stylish in the hottest weather is still about always wearing what works for you. There are so many different body types in this world and not everyone can look right in the same outfit. The same goes for relationships: “what’s right for you just might not be right for me.” It’s important to wear clothes that flatter you and build your confidence so that when you walk into a room, you just know you’ve made a positive statement.
